Silver Bells

- Guest Conductor Ernest (EJ) Harrison led the chorale through a multicultural assortment of seasonal tunes, ranging from 16th Century de Victoria’s “Ave Maria,” excerpts from Handel's "Messiah," to local composer Nick Strimple’s rousing “Hodie,” with handbells. Alto Ruth Judkowitz arranged a gentle and appropriate Yiddish tune, “My Treasure,” about a world without borders. The audience joined in to sing traditional carols, including “Silver Bells.”
Destiny

- Spirits were high at the close of “Destiny.” Dr. Pu programmed an evening of music that was spiritually uplifting as well as delightful. With accompaniment by Dr. Zachary Deak, Brahms’ classical “Schicksalslied,” Pentatonix’ “Light in the Hallway,” and Mark Hayes’ “Te Deum” (with soloists Alexei Helmbock and Sallie Manson) were featured. An enchanting group brought “God Help the Outcasts” by Alan Menken to life, and Tina Appel was once again featured on flute in Allen Pote’s “I Lift Up Mine Eyes.”
Majesty

- A concert fit for royalty! Dr. Pu’s dynamic conducting of Mozart’s “Coronation Mass,” with soloists Vanessa Doss, Erin Alford, Stephen Cannon, and Ray Buffer, accompanied by Zachary Deak, left the audience breathless. The program included an Austrian carol, “Still, Still, Still,” with HMC member Tina Appel on the flute; and other celebrations of the holidays.
Brilliance of Beethoven

- With his usual empassioned style, Dr. Pu led the Hollywood Master Chorale in Beethoven's optimistic "Mass in C Major." Soloists
- Jacquelynne Fontaine, Ray Buffer, Jennifer Wallace, and Stephen Cannon; and Zachary Deak, piano were inspired.
