A delighted audience was treated to their favorite music selected from the HMC's repertoire of 20 years, including Mozart, Morten Lauridsen, Stephen Paulus, Nick Strimple, madrigals, and more on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church.
As Artistic Director Dr. Lauren Buckley Schaer says, “This (our 20th Anniversary) is a huge milestone for any non-profit organization, and for HMC it is especially important because we are not only celebrating longevity, we are celebrating community.”
The HMC shares its music at a variety of events in an array of communities: Most recently, the HMC, joined for several songs by singers from the Pasadena Master Chorale, returned to sing at the "HolidayBrass LA" 2014 concert in Pasadena, a benefit concert for music scholarships. We sing most years at the Being Alive holiday party in West Hollywood. The June 2013 concert, "Voices of Freedom" was part of the "One City One Pride Arts Festival" in West Hollywood. We were the featured singers at a "Hollywood Remembers" benefit in Hollywood in 2012.
The HMC is proud to support young composers and singers. We were joined by a wonderful group of young singers for the song, "Hymn to the Eternal Flame," which can be seen on YouTube. In 2014, one of the student composers from the "Voices of LA: Songs of Innocence and Experience" project performed the songs that were commissioned by the HMC in his Senior Graduation Recital.
The chorale's Playlist can be accessed on YouTube.
Here’s to the past twenty, and here’s to the next twenty years of inspiring music to come.
